"The Gower" is a piece of land with magical qualities, jutting out of the South Wales coastline into the Bristol channel between Swansea Bay and Carmarthen bay. It has been designed to catch swells originating from thousands of miles away in the Atlantic ocean, giving it a reputaion as a Welsh surfers paradise. It is almost an island, and due to its geography it offers many natural attractions, such as wide sandy beaches, some of the fastest rising tides in the world, beautifull hidden coves, and interesting walks combined with stunning views of the wild coastlines and massive rock formations. It can be accessed via Gowerton in the north direction or Sketty and West Cross at the Swansea side in the south, It is roughly 15 miles wide and 10 miles deep, but can feel larger than this.
Because the roads are full of bends and quite narrow, journeys are slower and tend to take longer than expected, but because of this, visitors are lulled into a wonderfully relaxed "holiday" mode, perfect conditions for entering the "chill zone".
